Historic Street Car
The organization currently owns four historic car bodies (housed in a facility at the former McClellan Air Force Base). Until approximately 2010 the organization had plans to rehabilitate these old vehicles. The project was put on hold when the effort to pursue a modern streetcar system was undertaken shortly thereafter.
This PowerPoint show was used in 2004 and 2005 and has been presented to RT, the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, the Streetcar Summit (2005), Streetcar Breakfast for Downtown Developers and various community events and meetings.
Downtown Sacramento Street Car
In 2014 and 2015 FLRT became re-engaged on the streetcar effort, playing a key role in the Business Advisory Vote. Unfortunately, the vote of the public was unsuccessful, leaving the city council to develop a new strategy to raise the needed matching funds.
